EPA DEF updates
The following is reprinted from an email by Stephen Bertling, President FCOC Club
We received a number of questions after our last email regarding the EPA DEF updates, so we wanted to follow up with clear, direct answers.
Is this a recall?
No. This is not a recall. There is currently no requirement for manufacturers to bring coaches in for a mandatory fix.
When will this be available?
That will be up to manufacturers, including Cummins. Based on what has been shared publicly, any widespread updates or changes are not expected immediately. A general expectation being discussed is around two years, but there is no confirmed timeline.
Will it be free or cost something?
At this point, there is no official program in place. However, Cummins has publicly indicated that if an update becomes available, it would most likely come at a cost unless it is later classified as a mandatory recall.
Could this change again?
Yes. Regulatory direction can shift depending on federal administration priorities. If policies change before these updates are fully implemented, the outcome could change as well.
Important note
Please do not call FCCC regarding this. They do not have additional information at this time.
Where things stand right now
There is no action required from owners today
No recall notices are being issued
No immediate changes are being rolled out
What we are seeing is a direction toward improving how DEF systems behave and how issues are handled in the future.
We will continue to monitor this closely and share updates as they become clearer and more actionable.
Safe travels
FCOC Team
